A bit of buzz comes with the job - but when the vibration stops being fun, it can signal the early signs of Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). This permanent condition affects circulation, nerves and grip strength, and is commonly seen in workers who regularly use vibrating tools such as jackhammers, grinders and impact drills.
Our HAV medicals are designed to detect early warning signs before long-term damage occurs. The assessment includes an exposure questionnaire, symptom screening and a focused clinical examination of the hands and upper limbs, including sensory testing and grip function where required.
Warning signs may include tingling or numbness in the fingers, reduced grip strength, loss of dexterity or fingers turning white in cold conditions.
Following the assessment, a clear fitness-for-work outcome is provided, along with any recommended exposure controls to support workplace safety and WHS compliance.
