An Independent Medical Examination (IME) is a comprehensive assessment performed by a medical practitioner who has not previously been involved in the patient's treatment.
Unlike a treating doctor, the Independent Medical Examiner does not provide treatment or ongoing care. Instead, they conduct an objective assessment of the worker's medical condition, review the available medical documentation and provide an impartial medical opinion.
